Chimpanzee Paradise
Mahale Mountains National Park protects over 1,000 chimpanzees along the remote eastern shores of Lake Tanganyika. The park's dramatic mountains rise 2,462 meters above the crystal-clear lake, creating one of Africa's most stunning settings.
Chimpanzee trekking here is intimate - small groups follow habituated chimps through dense forest. After trekking, swim in the lake's clear waters or kayak along pristine beaches. Access is by chartered flight or boat only.
Mahale Mountains National Park offers remarkable wildlife viewing year-round, but each season brings its own unique spectacle. The dry season concentrates animals around water sources, while the wet season brings lush landscapes and newborn animals.
