Mount Meru Hiking

Africa's Fifth Highest Peak

About This Experience

Summit Mount Meru (4,566m), Tanzania's second-highest mountain and an excellent acclimatization climb before Kilimanjaro. This stunning volcanic peak offers diverse ecosystems from montane forest to alpine desert, with remarkable wildlife encounters.

Unlike Kilimanjaro, Meru requires an armed ranger due to resident buffalo and elephant populations in the lower forests. The dramatic Meru Crater and ash cone provide otherworldly landscapes, while clear days offer spectacular Kilimanjaro views.
